TRAVEL HOROSCOPES 2020
Where will you be traveling in 2020, according to your Zodiac sign?
Plus travel tips to help you on your way!
Yes! It’s that time of the year when we look forward to reading our travel horoscopes for the new year, 2020, based on our Zodiac signs.
We dusted off and polished up the crystal ball, conferred with a few clairvoyants, tossed some tarot cards and crystals about, gazed at the moon, and here is what we discovered.
AIRES: March 21 to April 19
Adventurous Aries, ‘Travel and Leisure Magazine’ ranked Addis Ababa in the ancient country of Ethiopia as number 1 on their list of ‘50 Best Places To Travel in 2020,’ and our clairvoyants all agreed that this seemed to be where you could be heading this year!
What an adventure! Addis Ababa up in the highlands of Ethiopia and bordering the Great Rift Valley, is the capital of a country that is unique and quite different from the other countries in Africa.
The newish Nobel Peace Prize-winning Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, has opened the 19th century Menelik palace to the public and after 20 years of planning and building, the Zoma Museum has opened. Addis Ababa is undergoing a radical facelift focusing on greenery and renovation.
Make sure you get to see the rock-hewn churches and medieval castles in the Simian Mountains, and everywhere you go you will find Ethiopia’s ‘Black Gold’- coffee, coffee, and more coffee.
TIP: In 2020 make sure that you double-check that you have your passport with you. Eager Aries people have been known to forget about boring details, like taking their passport out of the hotel safe before leaving a location, in their excitement of moving on to the next thrilling adventure.

TAURUS: April 20 to May 20
Luxury loving Taureans, we predict that in 2020 you are going to have to tighten those purse strings!
We know you won’t like it, but there are some great last-minute cruise bargains if you keep your eye on websites like vacationstogo.com, cruisedeals.com, and cruisesheet.com and there are probably some good local discount cruise agents in your area. The cruise ship companies hate leaving port with any empty cabins and often will reduce their prices at the last minute to ensure their ships are full.
If you get your cruise at a bargain price, you can afford to upgrade and still enjoy the luxury lifestyle that you love. For example, there is currently a 16 day New Zealand and Australia cruise advertised on vacationstogo.com on a 6-star ship departing in three weeks' time. The price has been reduced from $19,248 to $5,852 - a huge saving of around $14,000 and on a 6-star ship, you will be reveling in luxury! Keep an eye out for more bargains like this.
TIP: There may be short delays involved with your travel in 2020 but just relax and don’t let it stress you. They will sort themselves out and you won’t be majorly affected. In fact, you will get to meet some new fun-loving travel companions through these delays.
GEMINI: May 21 - June 20
Jovial Geminis, you will possibly be involved in lots of work-related car travel this year. We suggest you travel to Switzerland in winter and pick up a 15 day Swiss Rail Pass so that you can take a holiday from stressful driving. We know that you get bored easily and need lots of flexibility in your travel plans. With the Swiss Rail Pass, you can just roll up to the rail station, jump on board a train, and move on, wherever and whenever you want.
Winter in Switzerland is picture-postcard perfect, and if you pop your skis or snowboard in your luggage, you can enjoy a different ski area every day. Gruyere is great for a day trip to the cheese factory and Gruyere medieval castle, and the La Maison Callier chocolate factory in Broc is not far away.
For a bit of excitement check out the Thrill Walk at Schilthorn , Piz Gloria near Murren. Maybe you’d prefer the Gelmer steepest funicular ride in Bern, or the slightly swaying Titlis cliff walk, the highest pedestrian bridge in Europe. You might feel the need to go mountain zipping in Grindelwald. There’s plenty of excitement to be found.
TIP: You love to chat, so don’t forget to pack your phone charger every time you move from your accommodation and keep your phone charged so that you can keep in contact with friends and family back home.
CANCER: June 21 to July 22
Cautious Cancer, the stars tell us that for whatever reason, you might want to attend and contribute a lantern at the Lantern Festival in Honolulu in Hawaii. Traditionally the Buddhist ceremony is held on Memorial Day to honor those who had fallen in service to their country.
In 2020 it will be held at Ala Moana Beach Park on Monday, May 25th. Lanterns are lit and floated out on the Pacific Ocean. You can float your own personal lantern to represent someone near and dear to you. You can collect and decorate your lantern at the park between 10 am and 3 pm. The event attracts more than 40,000 onlookers and more than 7,000 lanterns are sent afloat to send wishes of peace and happiness to those who have passed, and symbolize hope and courage for the future. All of those involved say it is a powerful and moving experience.
While you are in Honolulu there is a great deal to see and do and eat! Don’t forget to check out the Murals and Microbreweries in Kakaako , Honolulu.
TIP: Book into an apartment. It will feel more like home than a hotel room and you will have the freedom to cook your own meals and do your own laundry.
LEO: July 23 to Aug 22
Lively Leo! Lucky you! It looks like you’re destined to head to the World Expo in glitzy Dubai in October. We can guarantee that this will be a stunning event with the theme "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". The Dubai Ruler promised Dubai would "astonish the world," in 2020. Make sure to visit the “Future of Travel” in the Emirates Pavilion with its glimpse into the amazing ways we will be flying in the future.
There’s a multitude of things to see and do in Dubai including the busy and colorful Gold and Spice souks, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world- Burj Khalifa, a ski resort in a shopping mall in the desert- Ski Dubai and the fascinating Dubai Aquarium.
The expo will be located near the southern border close to Abu Dhabi so you’ll be able to have a look at Abu Dhabi while you’re there. Some of the many attractions that you might want to take a look at in Abu Dhabi are the very impressive Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre, Ferrari World and Emirates Palace.
TIP: Don’t rush! Don’t try to see it all on day one! You’ll run out of steam and end up exhausted and burnt out. Pace yourself
VIRGO: Aug 23 to Sept 22
Virtuous Virgo, when we looked into the crystal ball on your behalf, it showed lots of delicate snowflakes and amazing ice sculptures. It seems that you might be heading to the Sapporo Snow Festival in February in Japan, along with about two million other people, to see over 100 spectacular ice sculptures and intriguing ice buildings and mazes that are spread out over three different locations. They are extra stunning at night with all the lights. Go to the Sapporo TV Tower, which is based on the Eiffel Tower for great views back over Sapporo.
You'll probably want to check out Susukino, the large entertainment district, jam packed with stores, bars, and restaurants. You can get a great selfie at the neon-lit Susukino Building and a great view of the skyline from the Noria Ferris Wheel. If you're interested in beer take a visit to the Sapporo Beer Museum. Pop in and see the fascinating Ishiya Chocolate Factory with its cake buffet and, for the kids, a robot show and toy shop.
Tip: Speaking of cake buffets, don’t overindulge Virgos! Tempting as it may be. It is very easy on holiday to let your healthy living guidelines slip. A treat is fine every now and then, but you don’t want to spoil your holiday by returning home overweight and having to go on a boring diet to try to lose those extra pounds. It’s easier not to put them on in the first place.
LIBRA: Sept 23 to Oct 22
Dependable Libra, knowing how much you appreciate the world's natural wonders, we weren't surprised to see that the stars are pointing you in the direction of the Iguazu Falls in South America on the border with Argentina and Brazil in 2020. We suggest that you visit in the winter months when there aren't so many tourists about to give you the chance to really take in the beauty and majesty of the area. Stay for four or five days so that you aren't having to dash about.
There are over 275 waterfalls spread over nearly two miles. The waterfalls are in the tropical jungle so there is plenty of wildlife to see too and lots of butterflies and rainbows! Incredibly beautiful.
TIP: Book your accommodation directly with the hotel. This saves the hotel the commission fees they would have to pay to the booking agent and gives you more of a chance of successfully negotiating a discount or upgrade, and, using your diplomatic skills, always ask nicely for a discount if you're staying three nights or longer (long stay) or intend paying by cash (saving the hotel credit card fees.)
SCORPIO: Oct 23 to Nov 21
There seems to be a lot of sport featuring in your travel plans for 2020 and a strong Asian influence. The experts agree that travel to the XXXIII Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan from July 24 to August 9 is on the cards for you. Tokyo very successfully hosted the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and is well prepared for the Summer Olympic Games, which will be spread over 33 competition venues. Your biggest problem will be deciding what events you would most like to see.
Hopefully, you will find time to do some sightseeing around the fascinating and unique places in Tokyo like the Imperial Palace with its beautiful 17th-century parks, and Tokyo's busiest shopping area- the Ginza. You will find Tokyo is an easy city to get around because of its efficient rail and subway networks. There's no chance you will get bored in Tokyo.
TIP: Be aware of scams Scorpio. Often you are so engrossed by what you are doing, that you forget to be aware of what's happening around you. Just check every now and then, especially in crowded situations like public transport and busy train stations and when you're using the ATM machines.
SAGITTARIUS: Nov 22 to Dec 21
Sagittarius, have you been to New Zealand yet? If not, the tarot cards predict that 2020 will be an excellent time for you to hire a campervan and wander around New Zealand taking part in all those challenging sports and adrenalin-pumping activities that your competitive spirit thrives on.
It's all there, everywhere you go in New Zealand- bungy jumping, sky diving, heli-skiing, jet boating, caving and canyoning, kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving, surfing, hunting, fishing, zip-lining, riding the rapids. The choice is yours. And the scenery is stunning.
You might even want to consider a cruise around New Zealand if your travel time is limited, as this is an easy way to get a quick over view of the country and the chance to still take in some good adventure action at the ports of call.
Tip: Have you got your travel insurance organized? This is an absolute must. The experts say if you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel. It doesn’t matter how lucky, careful, and sensible you think you are, you just can’t predict what is around the corner or what some other idiot might do, that might injure you or your belongings!
CAPRICORN: Dec 22 - Jan 19
Capricorn, the runes scattered about Europe and predicted that 2020 will be a great year to attend the Salzburg Festival in Austria from July 18 to 30, 2020. Lonely Planet has Salzburg at the top of its “2020 Best in Travel -Cities” list.
Salzburg is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and 2020 celebrates 100 years with some lavish opera productions, outstanding classical music concerts, drama, and theatrical performances. The Sound of Music tour is a must-do on many travelers lists and in the old town don't miss the very picturesque street containing Mozart's birth place.
Of course it's also possible to do a day tour to romantic Vienna from Salzburg if you have time. Just so much to see and do in Vienna! And we'll let you into a little secret. The Bag Carrier is a chocolate addict and, we kid you not, when we say the the best chocolate torte in Austria was found in the Mc Donald's McCafes in Vienna! True!
TIP: Don’t forget to pack that important First Aid Kit. Hopefully, you won’t need to use it but it needs to be tucked safely in your suitcase just in case of emergencies.
AQUARIUS: Jan 20 to Feb 18
Curious Aquarius if all goes according to plan you could be off to Barbados in the Caribbean to join in the 2020 year-long celebration of Bajan culture and heritage called "We Gatherin." This means lots of live music, street festivals, rum cocktails, and the beautiful powder-white beaches.
You might find yourself taking part in a game of cricket and traditional British afternoon tea. The clairvorants can also see you tucking into the national dish of Barbados which is cou-cou and fried flying fish with spicy gravy.
And with a bit of luck, you could find yourself staying in one of the 40 suites at the newly renovated Cobblers Cove with it's theme of English elegance with Caribbean character. Just your style!
TIP: Travel light! You won’t want to be dragging around a huge suitcase full of clothes that you’ll never wear. You’ve probably heard the old saying, 'pack half the clothes you think you’ll need, and twice the money!'
PISCES: Feb 19 to Mar 20
Dreamy Pisces there is lots of stargazing on the cards for you in 2020 and we know just the place to do your stargazing. Great Barrier Island in New Zealand is one of only ten Dark Sky Sanctuaries in the world. “An IDA Dark Sky Sanctuary is public or private land that has an exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights and a nocturnal environment that is protected for its scientific, natural, or educational value, its cultural heritage and/or public enjoyment.”
Not only does Great Barrier Island have brilliant and fascinating night skies but it has superb beaches, great fishing, and great hiking and biking tracks through the native forest.
The other International Dark Sky Sanctuary in New Zealand is situated at the southern end of New Zealand on New Zealand's third largest island called Stewart Island. Another not to be missed spot for star gazing is at Tekapo in the South Island with its Dark Sky Reserves, observatories, beautiful lake and hot springs. If you're lucky you might even get to see the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis).
TIP: The tarot cards say to remind you to back up your photographs when you are traveling. It is heartbreaking to lose all those wonderful memories so backing them up regularly is a must.
